ABOUT KATE
Kate Stahl is a film, television, and theater producer and arts & entertainment educator and consultant.
More than anything, Kate believes in the power of storytelling.
She started her career as a quintessential theater kid, discovering a passion for producing during her time at Barnard College. From a young age, Kate saw the importance of the intersection of art and business. She simultaneously began producing student and indie theater and working for institutions like The Public Theater and the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center. After college she honed her administrative and legal skills, doing everything but being a lawyer at a boutique entertainment firm while continuing to produce indie theater.
Feeling the limitations of a career in downtown theater, Kate went back to school at NYU’s prestigious dual MBA/MFA program where she got the best of both worlds - the business and the creative sides of the entertainment industry. In those years she began producing films and learning more about the indie film space through time at companies like FilmNation and A24.
Kate continued her career as the Manager of Film Financing, Creative Development, Programming at the NYU Production Lab. At the Production Lab, Kate worked with some of the most exciting emerging voices in film but she’s not going to name drop here. She also discovered her passion for the intersection of production and education. When she left the Production Lab, it was to launch production and education initiatives at the beloved NYC cinema, Metrograph.
Now, Kate is bringing her years of experience and expertise to a wider network: producing feature films, teaching and designing educational programs and schools including NYU and University Prep Charter High School, and consulting for arts institutions like the soon to open Brooklyn Art Haus in Williamsburg.
Kate is always excited to hear from and meet new storytellers and can’t wait to talk to you about your work!
